Proof of Performance

Below is a 20-minute clip from an online offering during the spring of 2020 when our community was isolating because the COVID virus was new and the implications were quite uncertain and unknown. Schools were closed, church services were online, and masks were mandated in public spaces. Our traditions, including funeral services, were altered.

I offered this online workshop to professional caregivers/counselors/educators in my small community in response to the sudden, accidental death of a young child. Our community was already struggling with all of the changes during COVID, and this unexpected loss of a child due to an accident deeply impacted the school community, church communities, and community at-large. The participants are professionals; and we are all colleagues and friends as well, so the format is quite intimate and familiar. The workshop took place only a few days after the child’s death, and was offered online to accommodate health concerns. We discussed grief and loss in terms of self-care and support. Opening up this conversation and introducing tools among professionals allowed our leadership to expand to the intersections of community where we were currently serving.

I have permission to share this portion of the workshop.
